At the beginning of this year, we embraced “the year of collaboration,” with one of our goals being to take hands with the community by supporting a different charity each month. This has been an incredibly rewarding journey, allowing us to contribute to causes close to our hearts while making meaningful connections within the community.
Mandela Day.
In July, we geared up for one of our biggest annual charity initiatives – Mandela Day! Our Gauteng team partnered with Hearts of Hope ZA to make this year extra special. Together, we prepared sandwiches and brightened up their learning space by painting a colourful wall. Hearts of Hope is doing incredible work in the community, providing a safe, nurturing environment for orphaned and vulnerable children in Johannesburg.
In Cape Town, our team joined forces with READ to RISE , donating stationery packs to 110 excited Grade 2 learners at Hillside Primary. Read to Rise is an inspiring NGO that reaches about 14,000 Grade 2 and 3 students across 47 primary schools in Mitchell’s Plain, promoting youth literacy in under-resourced communities. They genuinely reflect Mandela’s sentiment: “When we read, we can travel to many places, meet many people, and understand the world.”
Mission to Reunite and Restore Hope
In August, a team members’ passion for The Haven Night Shelter Welfare Organisation inspired us to focus on this worthy cause. The Haven provides temporary shelter, physical care, and social support, and even helps reunite homeless adults with their families. It was especially meaningful to support The Haven, as their work makes a real and positive impact in the Western Cape.
Nourishing Young Minds with Sunrise Kids & Honoring Seniors at Douglas Murray Home
In September, two amazing causes really caught our attention. Sunrise Kids focuses on giving school children a nutritious start to their day by providing a bowl of porridge and tea—often the only meal they’ll have all day. If extra funds are available, they try to provide a cooked meal in the afternoon as well. There is an extra spoil at the end of the year as they bring the holiday spirit to life with a Santa Shoebox drive and treat the children to a fun-filled picnic.
The second organisation is the Douglas Murray Home for the Aged, a place that provides a safe, dignified environment for seniors from underserved communities. They ensure that residents spend their golden years surrounded by respect, compassion, and the care they deserve.
Paying it Forward
In recent years, we have worked closely with the Stroke Foundation by donating our old laptops to support their incredible work for those affected by stroke. In a wonderful act of paying it forward, they have now passed one of these laptops on to the Epilepsy Foundation of South Africa. This foundation provides specialised, comprehensive services focused on enhancing the quality of life for individuals living with epilepsy, as well as those impacted by the condition
We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to these important initiatives. Our team remains committed to giving back and continuing our mission of supporting a new charity each month. We look forward to sharing more about the wonderful organisations we’re working with in the months ahead, and shining a light on the incredible impact they are making in their communities.
